Free Bible Advent Calendar: 25 Doors, 1 Big Story

I’ve never had trouble finding Advent calendars stuffed with chocolate. They’re everywhere—grocery aisles, Target endcaps, even the dollar store. But a Bible verse Advent calendar that walks my children, day by day, straight into the real Christmas story? That one’s harder to come by. And that’s the only kind I want lighting up our December mornings.

You know that sweet season when your child discovers calendars? My girl would flip ahead, count the squares, trace the coming holidays with her finger like she was touching the future. She’s never cared much for chocolate (I know, strange child), but she cares for God with her whole little self. At seven she asked for a “real Bible—no pictures, Mom, please.” Just grown-up words on grown-up pages.

That’s when the idea settled in my heart: What if each door held only a verse address? No candy, no toy—just a treasure hunt into Scripture. Because when a child is first holding a real Bible, turning those thin pages to find Matthew or Micah or Malachi feels like an adventure. Add the hush of Christmas prophecies and angel visits, and you have something far sweeter than sugar.

So, like most mothers who can’t find exactly what their heart needs… I made one. And now I get to hand it to you.

Free Bible Verse Advent Calendar (two versions–just for you!)

One has the full verse written out, gentle and ready to read aloud by candlelight. The other has only the reference—so you can watch your child’s fingers travel the Table of Contents, flip to the right book, and land on the exact words God meant for that day.

These twenty-five doors carry us from the ancient whispers of Isaiah straight through to the Word made flesh in a manger. Old Testament promises, Zechariah struck silent, shepherds trembling under glory, wise men following a star—every piece of the story is here, tucked into Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Micah, Malachi, and more.

Print it. Cut the doors on three sides (grab an Exacto knife and a cutting mat; you’ll thank me). Tape it to the fridge, the pantry door, or that empty frame you’ve been meaning to fill. Then every morning of Advent, open one little door together and let the living Word open your hearts a little wider.

Some days we just read the single verse hiding behind the door. Other days (Lord help me, I can’t stop myself) we keep reading the whole chapter and end up late for school with tears on our cheeks and glory on our tongues.

If you’re raising little ones who need to touch the real Christmas—if you want them turning pages instead of tearing foil—this one’s for you, mama.

It’s completely free. Just join our quiet little newsletter family below, and I’ll send both versions straight to your inbox.

May your December be slow and full of wonder. May your children meet Jesus long before Santa ever slides down the chimney. And may every little door you open lead you all the way to Bethlehem.

Enjoy! And remember: Whatever territory you’re navigating, keep cultivating their seeds of faith. Simply. For true legacy.
